North Devon AONB covers 171 square kilometres (66 square miles) of mainly coastal landscape including special places such as Combe Martin, Lee Bay, Woolacombe, Croyde, Westward Ho!’s Pebble Ridge, the steep cliffs of the Hartland Peninsula and the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve at Braunton Burrows.
We have a long running relationship with our local AONB, where our work includes:
- Advising and commenting on significant planning applications;
- Providing pre-application advice to the local planning authorities;
- Advising local authorities on formulating policy that takes full account of the designated AONB, including national policies such as the National Planning Policy Framework and documents such as the Local Plan.
