The Client approached the Practice with an unused existing ‘threshing’ barn with cob walls and slate roof and sought our expertise in realising the potential of the existing barn to provide income via a holiday let provision.

The existing barn was fortunate to benefit from good existing access and services (water + power) provision.

Following initial discussion and sketch appraisal, the brief developed into the conversion of the existing barn into a 2 bedroom holiday let with some remedial space utilised by the client for storage. Our deign proposals included the 2 bedroom lettable accommodation, kitchen/dining room to the ground floor and a dramatic entrance hall to welcome guest occupying the holiday let.

The proposals also included the complete reproofing of the barn.
